Rudo Wuragu and Gamaliel Madindi’s African Bush Wedding
When Rudo Wuragu, a beautiful young vocalist in the Gweru based Joyful Praise Choir met Gamaliel Madindi during a Gospel Show in Gweru in 2012, she knew she had met a man like no other. Love blossomed soon afterwards and the two who met and fell in love publicly acknowledged that theirs was a love which was a reward from God through a unique Bush Themed Wedding at Victory Life Tabernacle church.
We managed to have a few minutes with the bride and here is what she had to say about her wedding:
The Proposal Story
Well, my husband proposed on my birthday. It was a planned surprise between my husband and his sisters. In a few words, the surprise came at the right time.
How Rudo Wuragu Carried Out The Wedding Planning Process
Basically, it was a bit difficult in terms of resources since we both were not employed formally, so we had to hustle up but God intervened. The church and both families also gave aid and it worked out in the end.
What would you change about your wedding?
Speaking of change, I doubt if there is anything I would need to change because every department was on point, everything we had planned to have was there.
Culture
In our Shona culture, we believe in paying lobola or roora (dowry) before marriage. The bride price enables the bride’s father to allow the wedding to go on, so basically this culture made it easy for me to get my father’s blessing to wed.
Above them were the bridal best girls, three of them and groom’s best boys three as well.
The Bridal Team
My bridal team consisted of mostly family and friends. Reason being I value them both equally and it had always been my wish and vow to make them part of my big day. It consisted of seven couples.
Cherished Wedding Moments
I Cherish the vow making moment…
The Wedding Style
I had planned my wedding to be an elegant bush wedding, not a garden wedding. So we used VictoryLife Terbanacle Centre and it was the perfect site for the event.

Wedding Dress
I had two wedding dresses, one of the wedding gowns was white and the other one was red. My second gown was the colour red because it is my favourite colour.
I wore the white one in the morning and the red one in the afternoon. I personally chose to hire my white dress then custom made the red one.
Biggest Spend
Our biggest spend was on food.
Advice To Future Brides
When planning a wedding do it in time, engage people like relatives, church members, friends, family…find a way to boost up your pocket, you need to avoid debts though.
