3. Where do you operate from?: We are based in Meyrick Park, Mabelreign, Harare, Zimbabwe

4. What propelled you to start your business?: I have lots of reasons as to what really propelled me to start my business, but I will talk about a few and the rest will do in the next life kkkk……. So, growing up, l was always that child that loves celebrations and bringing people together for family gatherings. I loved doing it but it was just within the family, maybe because l was scared to be out there to do things and to disappoint people.

But in 2018 I was a marketing assistant at a printing company and l met this client that became a friend and a brother and he said RUE what are you really passionate about?, What gives you peace of mind when doing it? And to be honest l did not know how to answer and what to say because l had no idea what l wanted to do and what l wasn’t afraid of. So l told him l like to do a lot of things so l don’t know which one I should focus on.

At that time I had so many pictures of picnic setups in my phone and l had these ideas in my head. l remember l would say one day l will own a farm and I will turn it into a picnic venue and with time also provide a wedding venue for weddings.

To cut the long story short that friend of mine encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone. To throw my fears far far away and focus on the things that l love doing I.e. creating things and memorable experiences.

Thats when we started MISRUE EVENTS . We started with picnics and bit by bit we ended up doing all events including funerals, anniversaries and more.

5. What drives or motivates you?: Continuous learning and learning new things, taking up on challenges that enable me to refine my performances in the events industry.

And this one l will say it in shona, “ndakadadirwa” by my closest relatives & friends that l really thought where my all and to be honest “zvakandipa shungu” to do my own things and be my own boss, up until now when l think of those painfull episodes l do things “neshungu” and I tell myself l want to be better and more.

6. What do you enjoy the most about this industry?: The freedom to create something that people love and cherish.Half the time I GET clients who say HEY Misrue l want décor for 20 guests, and these are my colors, and l trust you to give me a wow on my day, create something lovely. And l enjoy that a lot

7. What is the highlight of your business journey to date?: The companies l have worked with so far are the biggest highlights in my journey. For example l did décor at the AUSTRALLIAN EMBASSY and l had the chance to meet the ambassador. It’s something l never thought would actually happen to a mere person like me but it happened because of my business.

8. How did you start your business?: I saw my uncle trimming down trees at our house in 2018 and l asked him to slice a few slates for me. He even asked me what I wanted to do with them but l couldn’t answer him because l also had no idea what l wanted to do with them, but somewhere somehow l knew l am going to use them when doing décor.

I had my first maroora deco in Westgate, and because l was working at a printing company that time l knew how to use Vinyl and l decided to print out TIGASHIRE Vakwasha and experiment sticking it onto a wooden log and boom it worked.

The photographer focused on that slate and the picture circulated and people started asking if they could also get something like that and that’s how tigashire vakwasha started. I didn’t have intentions of doing that as a business. I had only done 1 just for my table setups. But today l am known in the industry with those slates. Other people are now copying and etc. but the fact that I started it, is one of the best things that has ever happened to me

9. What makes you stand apart from the rest of the wedding service providers in Zimbabwe?: The creativity in me, being able to create something out of nothing, that you have not taken or copied from Pinterest but from your mind.

10. Advice for couples planning their wedding days: Cheap is very expensive.

Book with us so that we help you create memories that last a lifetime

11. Do you have any advice for aspiring wedding vendors?: Don’t be afraid to charge for your services. Those clients that are meant for you will definitely come to you. So don’t lower your standards because you just want to get a lot of clients per day.

Do décor as if you are doing it for yourself. Put your heart and all into it and deliver. A loyal and happy client will always refer your name to his/her circle

12. How do you unwind after a busy period?: I spend my time on YouTube learning things. For example, l am now a florist and l do my own flower arrangement on my events and l do for sell as well. I learnt that when l was unwinding kkkk.

And l travel as well just to relax

13. Please share your best marketing tips:

14. Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?: I see myself as the most sort after event stylist both locally and internationally.
