This Zim buns recipe is easy to follow and easy to execute even for the most inexperienced chef.

If you grew up in Zimbabwe, then you know that mabuns/ mabhanzi or Zim buns have always been a staple snack of ours as a people. In other countries, these Zim buns are called yeast buns or dinner rolls. It really does not matter what you call them because they are pretty much the same save for one or two variations.

How to serve Zim buns

One thing I love about Zim buns is their versatility. They can be eaten at any meal be it breakfast, lunch or supper. They can also be paired with almost any type of beverage, be it fizzy drinks like Coca Cola or sprite or hot beverages like coffee or tea.

The amount of sugar that you use in the preparation is influenced by how you would like to consume them. For example, if you’re having them as part of your dinner, you might need to tone it down on the sugar but if you will be having your Zim buns with a sweet beverage, you could get away with being more generous with your sugar.
